Thing is, strict-order technologists and scientists are not the minds to be making our decisions.  Such important ruminations actually belong directly to the people of this state.

The question is a MORAL one.  Do we accept uneconomic giantism with an arrogant, stupid technology that takes something beautiful and simple and complex, like a forest, and turn it into disposable nappies?

Remember that our dim-soul environment ministers have moved to ensure insecurity. That there is now only forked-tongue protection for threatened species. They have, in reality, turned Tasmania’s earth into one large open wound.

Thus, the prospect for the existence of any pulp mill feeding off our rivers, sad ‘forests’ and native trees is untenable. Contempt on creation itself.

The warnings are out there. We’re now suffocating in our own wastes. We’re swimming in dead oceans. The Tasmanian devil now likely to face extinction. The pellets of poison are flooding our waters. The playtpus, the oysters, the frogs - all mutilated.

Why do we need to bother with this sham. Just save us the $750000 and get on with what is innevitable. Fast track us all into obliviion. Who cares if the pulp mill goes ahead. A few Dark Greenies, some of the Northern residents and those in the Tamar Valley. Selfish lot! Just because their environment is being destroyed, their property devalued, their health affected, their amenities being taken away and their water being syphoned off to Gunns is not a valid excuse for all this opposition to what has been declared a PoSS. How long can they stand in the way of progress? What does their discomfort matter in the face of 300 extra jobs in a stinking pulp mill, the conversion of our native forests into woodchips and plantations, our infrastructure ruined, the tourists sent packing and the chance for the shareholders in this Monoculture company to make a killing at our expense.

It’s all about money - BIG money, and certainly these ill informed radicals cannot be allowed to stand in the way of that.

When will they learn to get their priorites right?
