Because PREMIER BARTLETT’s grand forests vision of business as usual is now exposed by his media statements last week and the Liberals not having any better alternative to establish solutions that will help Tasmania over all, the opportunity is to highlight what a positive future of responsible forest and catchment and natural resource management should / will look like.
Late last week Bartlett has demonstrated how to everyone, how very narrow, low and short his vision in this area is.
He reminds me of Kim Beazely from WA on forestry, do you remember him “Knowledge Nation” campaigner… The same mould, the same weakness, the same dud. Weak and ignorant - or let me call it irresponsible as a leader to just trying to make problematic things such as the forest war go away by pouring concrete around the rotting system of Forestry Tasmania, TFFIC, FIAT & Co.
Alternatively, Forestry in Tasmania would have a positive long term future with the strong support of the Tasmanian community, the locals, the town folk, the city councils.
The international markets for forests products have become sick of the 30 year war in Tasmania.
Increasingly they will no longer purchase woodchips, pulp, paper, timber or biofuel from Tasmania if they do not have the 3 ticks of approval (social, environmental, commercial), that make up the logo of the Forest Stewardship Council, FSC. http://www.fsc.org
Typically for Tasmanian Labor politics, there was nothing in the “NEW” Special Species Strategy” and nothing about FSC in David Bartlett’s call for a $6.4m unbaked RFA2. That is what is missing, as simple as that.
If the Tasmanian Liberals would recognise the triple win approach of FSC, aiming at real solutions for Tasmania, they would finally and quickly distance themselves from the Bartlett same old- same old. Eric Abetz may not approve it, but the test on forestry is
Is Will Hodgman & Co up to the test on Forestry? , a real change in forestry?
Do the Liberals have a global vision and ability to call for an urgent FSC process to begin?
Late last week, David Bartlett was digging the bog hole of FIAT and FT even deeper and the Lennon-Bartlett regimes demonstrate to the world how to destroy the BRAND of Tasmania.
What a shame of all that waste, all the useless propaganda they have initiated and supported in their time, cunningly crafted to mask over the realities behind the boom gates.
The way forward for Tasmania can be based on Responsible Forest Management, for more go to http://www.fscaustralia.org

Will Hodgman lacks spunk, drive, charisma - however he may also lack Bartlett’s gullibility, which leads Bartlett to accept whatever his nannies tell him. But whether the Liberals are capable of being radical enough to initiate new ideas on old themes, after so long as Labor’s shadow, (the ditto factor in Tasmanian politics) seems unlikely. The Greens will be needed to achieve that.

Frank, the Libs are cast from the same mould as the Labs…hence “Liblabs”, and neither could organise a cold drink in an ice factory.
What a shame we don’t have you steering this industry in a direction that would make everyone a winner….environment included!
Tasmania would do well with a man of your knowledge and understanding.
All we see now is doubling of the 30 year war from the Liblabs…..
