John Howard, George Pell cited in Breivik diatribe

THE gunman responsible for the Norway massacre described former Australian prime minister John Howard as “one of the most sensible leaders in the Western World” in his rambling 1500-page manifesto.
Anders Behring Breivik, who is believed to be responsible for the deaths of 93 people, also mentioned former treasurer Peter Costello, Catholic archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell and conservative historian Keith Windschuttle in his manifesto released before he embarked upon his violent rampage.
The 32-year-old described Mr Howard as “one of the most sensible leaders in the Western world” and commended the former government on its border protection policy and being “resistant to Political Correctness”.
“Luckily, not all Christian leaders are appeasers of Islam. One of the intelligent ones comes from Australia, a country that has been fairly resistant to Political Correctness .
“They have taken serious steps towards actually enforcing their own borders, despite the predictable outcries from various NGOs and anti-racists, and Prime Minister John Howard has repeatedly proven to be one of the most sensible leaders in the Western world,” he wrote.
Breivik went on to mention Mr Costello’s calls for Muslim leaders to stand up against terrorism, and the “outrage” Mr Howard caused by asking Muslims to speak English and show respect for women.
“Federal Treasurer Peter Costello said Australian Muslim leaders need to stand up and publicly denounce terrorism in all its forms. Mr Costello has also backed calls by Prime Minister John Howard for Islamic migrants to adopt Australian values. Mr Howard caused outrage in Australia’s Islamic community when he said Muslims needed to speak English and show respect to women,” he wrote.
Writing under the pseudonym Andrew Berwick and describing himself as “Justiciar Knight Commander for Knights Templar Europe and one of several leaders of the National and pan-European Patriotic Resistance Movement”, he also cited comments from Sydney Catholic archbishop George Cardinal Pell in the wake of the 2001 September 11 attacks.
“George Cardinal Pell, archbishop of Sydney, tells of how September 11 was a wake-up call for him personally,” he wrote, before quoting the archbishop.
Breivik also quoted conservative historian Keith Windschuttle’s comments on anti-Western sentiment in left-wing academia. “Australian writer Keith Windschuttle, a former Marxist, is tired of that anti-Western slant that permeates academia,” he said. He then cited Windschuttle’s writing.

Breivik writes that Archbishop Pell considered the September 11 attacks a wake-up call.

He quotes an address given by Archbishop Pell in which he said: “in the relationship between the Islamic and non-Islamic world, the normal thing is a situation of tension if not war, or outright hostility”.

He also quotes Archbishop Pell as saying: “some seculars are so deeply anti-Christian, that anyone opposed to Christianity is seen as their ally. That could be one of the most spectacularly disastrous miscalculations in history”.

Victoria’s Top Freemason Shocked By Killing Spree

Victoria’s top Freemason, Vaughan Werner, spent over 30 years in the Victorian Police Force, where he was responsible for fighting the sort of violent and devastating crime, which Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik has committed. Retiring as the Assistant Police Commissioner – Crime, Mr. Werner was the senior police officer in charge of both the Clifton Hill and Queens Street massacres. 

Claims that Breivik may have at one time practiced Freemasonry, have deeply shocked the Victorian Masonic community.

“It appals me that a man allegedly obligated as a Freemason is capable of contriving such hatred and taking the lives of over 90 innocent people,” said Freemasons Victoria’s Grand Master, Vaughan Werner.

“The practice of Freemasonry is founded on moral codes of behaviour and is focused on developing men to become better citizens. Our traditional ceremonies teach and reinforce our core tenets of brotherly love, charity, truth, tolerance and acceptance,” said Mr Werner.

“To become a Freemason, a member needs to be recommended into a Lodge based on his character, and must be of good standing in the community. A member is then sworn into Freemasonry, pledging to commit to a principled way of life. This involves upholding our code of ethics, assisting those less fortunate than ourselves and polishing our characters so that we may help create a better world,” said Mr Werner.

“Breivik clearly lacks any form of morality,” said Mr Werner. 

“The sole focus of Freemasonry is to teach good men how to improve themselves for the betterment of their families, the community and society as a whole. Notable Australian Freemasons include Sir Dallas Brooks, Sir Weary Dunlop, Sir Donald Bradman and Sir Robert Menzies,” said Mr Werner.

“On behalf of Freemasons Victoria’s 13,000 members, I wish to unequivocally state that throughout its 300 year history, Freemasonry has been, and remains, an organisation that espouses peace, teaches acceptance, assists those in need and transcends religious, political and social boundaries,” said Mr Werner.

“I extend my deepest sympathies to the victims’ families. My colleagues and I are presently holding discussions with our European counterparts to assess how we may provide support and resources to those impacted by this abhorrent act of terrorism,” said the Grand Master.

Freemasons have a long legacy of charitable giving in Victoria. As well as building the Freemasons Hospital in 1935 and the Royal Freemasons aged care facilities, Freemasons were quick to respond to Victoria’s 2009 bushfire tragedy donating over $1.2 million directly to affected families and schools. Similarly, Freemasons recently raised over $200,000 for Queensland and Victorian flood victims.

“Was he basing his acts on something he read in the New Testament? Had his local priest spent years inciting him to murder people?
