I often wondered if the entire Pulp Mill comcept was always a huge diversion for other puposes. However this was usually after (several) bottles of red wine. It also implies that the Tas Govt is capable of such a detailed plot - unlikely given that they cant even work out the basic maths of Ferry service. I must agree with Wayne C.
I would like to think that I was pretty politically astute but I’m afraid that I have never heard of Sue Neales silly story. However the most damning statement in Sue’s conspiracy is the notion that voters in Bass will punish anyone who is associated with the failure of the Mill proposal. This statement indicates a decided lack of street-smarts amongst our journos. Sue - if you havent already worked it out - the people of Bass DONT WANT the mill! The statement simply enforces the notion that Tasmanian investigative journalism now comprises sitting around in Salamance cofee houses and being fed BS from ministerial minders and other nobs. Sue - I suggest that you get in a car, drive to Launceston and chat to real people in the mall. I often wonder if our journos know how much a litre of milk costs.

Other factors that would support the conspiracy theory:
1) Gives the Government the opportunity to blame the Greens
2) Might enable Gunns Ltd to avoid the January 31 deadline for their “supplementary” information.
3) If the pulp mill is doomed it would appear the only way the Government could retain any credibility with some of the voting public.
Factors that work against the theory
1) Pulp mill enabling legislation would also have to pass the Legislative Council.
2) Even people I know who support the pulp mill concept still want it to go through the RPDC any attempt to bypass it will seriously erode public support and may be damaging for the state ALP.
3)As Alfred stated the pulp mill is not as popular as political advisers think.

I’m with Alfred all the way here and…
Sue’s idea of a strategy for Gunns/government implies some thought and critical analysis, followed by a carefully thought out plan then a coherent implementation.
Seriously when has the government demonstrated any of those skills?...and all of the together?
