Well, there’s no way of quarantining one issue from another. People perceive their place in the society according to how it’s talked about. It’s political talk, it’s the way in which prominent individuals in the society construct the language of the nation, the narrative of the nation. To use exactly the same kind of language about beaches that people use in relation to entering the country, in other words, we decide who comes here, that’s not an accidental development, that is a direct quote, it’s a citation of something that’s been made possible. It’s now permissible to talk like that.
