TASMANIAN devils exported to Denmark could transfer a latent disease of epic proportions, says a highly credentialled overseas cancer expert. The veteran cancer researcher says the devil export, which went ahead under a veil of secrecy last week, is dangerous and irresponsible. Jack Harington, a South African researcher with decades of experience in cancer studies, slammed the Tasmanian Government’s decision to export the devils. “With this disgraceful transfer of devils by the state, it is now too late for tears and one prays that something rotten does not turn up in the state of an unsuspecting Denmark,” Dr Harington said. The Tasmanian Government last week sent four devils to Copenhagen Zoo.
