In The Examiner of Tuesday, October 15, the Letters Editor has printed 11 letters … eight of which are anti- Green, and three of which are from the husband and wife team Dimity and Michael Hirst.
Michael manages the same letter twice, with Editorial alterations:
The first anti-Green rant from the Hirsts is headed, “Green Remarks”, a variation on this letter re-written by the Letters Editor has been stupidly re published with Editorial alterations as, “ Booth and Gunns”.
The Examiner’s Letters Editor – apparently to give Michael Hirst more spice – has changed, “We are all starting to understand the lack of sense and understanding they have of the real world.” to, “This sensational rhetoric is typical of the Greens party and is becoming more common as we all start to understand the lack of sense and understanding they have of the real world.”
The Examiner – on this self-incriminating evidence – proves that it is not only a pathetic paper … but that it has a particularly stupid staff.
Newspapers are not be in the business of changing the perception of public opinion by rewriting letters then cocking it up by publishing their duplicity.
Hirst’s wife Dimity is then published with another anti-Greens letter. I ask: Is this in fact a dummy from the Letters Editor, if not, does he also rewrite them for her?
Yet another anti-Greens/Labor factually incorrect letter is published from the one and only, (it seems in-house) letter writer, the illustrious TGC / Trevor Cowell.
Based on the above the “Ex” will soon vanish along with its owners Fairfax – who unaided – are doing their best to trash their brand.
Bankruptcy and closure at the Ex is inevitable should the current staff continue to pervert the course of journalism …
