Sorry Ben but I can’t figure out what you’re trying to say here.

What he means is that Democracy is a stupid system that allows you to elect your own dictators rather than have them thrust upon you.

My intention was to play on the line “it’s the economy, stupid!” which political commentators frequesntly use to explain election outcomes.  That is - the accepted wisdon is that people’s votes are most influenced by their hip pocket.

However, in the circumstances surrounding the current political situation in Tasmania, I believe that a majority of voters are more worried about the way the Lennon Government is undermining democratic process than about the economy.

In a healthy democracy, there should be no need for Mr. Aird to have kept a sovereign guarantee secret from the Parliament and the public.  If it is all above board, why the secret?  If it had to be kept secret, what was being hidden?

My comment was a poke in the chest for Mr. Aird to goad him to further explain his queer comments.
