THE Gunns pulp mill would ensure log trucks continue to be an almost-constant sight during daylight hours on Hobart’s busiest thoroughfare. About 122 log trucks would travel down the arterial route of Macquarie St each day if the pulp mill goes ahead.

Also sitting in the President’s gallery was the familiar figure of former Upper House politician for 14 years Tony Fletcher, who was being paid, presumably well, by Gunns to act as its political consultant, trying to encourage, coax and entice any wavering MLCs to change their views in favour of the quick-fix approval process for the mill before Thursday’s crucial vote.
“It is when you get some people deciding not to play by the rules and then getting special treatment, that you do not take the people with you, (and) you do not take me with you,” Mr Wilkinson said angrily.
