Congratulations Russell - thank you for doing this.

Thanks again, Garry.
I’m now watching with bated breath to see firstly how the Examiner handles the official Complaint publicly and, equally and coincidentally, addresses the matters at hand with the Australian Press Council.
I will of course share any developments I learn of.
I must say that the time it took from submitting my Complaint (the evening, I think, of 13.10.2009) to having a reply written and posted (15.10.2009) was incredibly surprising to me. Usually, in my experience, matters of complaint take weeks to see to and are usually brushed away.
It is my deduction, or maybe more appropriately assumption, that the APC were already aware of the articles and were just waiting for an official Complaint to be submitted.
Of course, in considering my assumption it would be clear to everyone that I am biased in this matter, otherwise I would not have made the Complaint.

Russell, is the content of your complaint available anywhere here? Would be interested to see it, having made a Press Council complaint against the same newspaper once myself.

Speaking of Press Council.
Who witnessed the embaressing spectacle of a dozen of the Premier’s staff siting in the audience looking like rabbits in a spotlight at the National Press Club. [The Premier’s performance was rather good by the way and he did Tasmania proud]. But for heavens sake why put that rabble on display.

Re #3
I did give a copy to Lindsay to publish if he saw fit but there may be some legal aspects with the Australian Press Council’s investigation in motion which may prevent it just yet.
It was quite short and to the point. There were certain conditions (eg: sending copies of the articles in question and identifying particular breaches as set out by the APC) that needed to be fulfilled which may or may not cause a Complaint to be followed up. I just tried to meet all the conditions and it looks like I did. Plus Garry’s challenge, lol. I didn’t know about the APC before then.
I don’t go out of my way to find something to formally complain about. Sometimes, as in this case, it just must be done. One important lesson I have learned in my previous experience lodging other Complaints with other authorities is that they usually will only be taken up by the relevant authority if the Complainant is personally affected. I have found that lodging a Complaint on behalf of someone else, because they won’t or are unable to, is usually (almost always, so far) discarded.
As I assumed in my previous post, due to the APC’s prompt action, they may also have been aware and waiting for a complaint to be lodged to act, but I couldn’t say for sure, sorry.
Lindsay may be able to help with the legality side of things.
I also didn’t want it published yet if it would bring unnecessary and/or unwarranted retribution to TT or anyone else, not that anything inflammatory was in it. But you know how some people read things the wrong way (me included sometimes if I don’t read things with enough attention given) or wrongly use them in an incitive manner (which was the gist of the Complaint actually).

LOL, just as a little joke, Kevin, would I charge for the content if I were Rupert Murdoch?
