Subtle and sophisticated, this exotic desert contains a triple surprise of delicately rose-flavoured treasures and is crowned with an oriental delicacy of superbly crafted pashmak.
The colours and presentation are equally delightful, the panna cotta like a turret rising from the rubble of pistachios and surrounded by a moat of pale rose syrup – light pinks and greens with cream capture the essence of Eastern colour aesthetics – colours that remind me of decadent palaces, hot summer afternoons, Moghul forts and ancient ruins arising from steamy desert sands.
Rockwater’s panna cotta with Turkish delight is easily the most beautiful and opulent desert on offer in Tassie at present.
Possibly the only downside of this desert is that one is not enough!!!
To enjoy this adventure to the full, I recommend the following method of consumption:
Start by decrowning the panna cotta turret from its ethereal mass of pink pashmak.
Then dash the pistachios through the rose syrup, leaving the panna cotta with it’s hidden treasure of Turkish delight till last!
I had the pleasure of indulging in one on New Year’s Day at Rockwater in Blackmans Bay – What a wonderful treat to start to 2011 (and an experience I would like to share with the whole of Tassie)!
