Who’s disgraced Mr. Milne?

Repartee - come on Haggy old girl…forgot your glasses did you?

I just watched the replay on ‘You Tube’ and Glenn Milne (in a career shettering moment)shoved Stephen Mayne so hard he fell four feet off the stage. A drunken journo is one thing,  but that was just pompous and pathetic Mr Milne.

If Stephen was Stephanie, Milne would be history.

And if News Ltd accepts Milne’s defence that he was under the influence of alcohol and medication, then the company has shoot itself in the foot.

Milne should be sacked.

It was pure gold.  I loved it.

In today’s Sunday Herald Sun [Yes, I know it’s owned by News Ltd, but someone has to keep an eye on what’s in it, and it might as well be my eye], Milne had this defence of his unscripted action:

Following, for the time-poor, are some of his Mayne points:

“There is a reason for everything. On this occasion mine was this: Mayne has a fascination with the media and politics, and particularly with me. I’ve never even met the bloke apart from Thursday night. If you could call that an introduction.

“Mayne specialises in unsubstantiated smear and innuendo. He rarely, if ever, checks his facts. In fact, he’s mostly wrong. Apart from that he’s probably a nice bloke.

“Mayne has also gratuitously and repeatedly attacked my wife, who is one of the most respected lobbyists in Canberra.

“But what snapped my brain at the Walkleys was Mayne’s decision a few months ago to put up a link on Crikey to a blog which accused me of being a sexual predator. . . .  It also accused me of being a serial philanderer.

“Why did Mayne put the link up? Because he could. When I saw him on Thursday night, I simply forgot there were 800 other people in the room.

“One friend of mine, a mother of two, was repeatedly accused of corruption on the site, again without foundation. Such was the vilification that, in the end, she could not get a job in her own state.”

That’s it -  according to Milne.

Perhaps, there’s more to come out.

Look again Christine - I think Glenn was trying to come back for another round and Stephen jumped down from the stage to avoid him and then leaped back onto the stage once he was sure the technician had control of Glenn Milne.  Stephen looked pretty fit in the replay.
It’s not a sacking offence Margaretta - why I witnessed a similar shove take place amid the roses at your (very worthwhile) public meeting in the park.  Maybe a bit of biffo is just a bad habit between some male columnists.

Why won’t anyone talk about that “shove” at the Battery Point walkway meeting in AJ White Park several weeks ago?

The Mercury ran a photo of said scuffle, but nowhere did they mention it in the accompanying text.

Don’t know why it happened Jason.  I only know the identity of the shovee, not the shover.
The two were talking and I think something odd happened - only caught the action from the corner of my eye - but perhaps the shovee tugged the hat of the shover?  Can someone refresh my memory if you were standing close to the action?
The shovee then walked off and after a moment of consideration, the shover followed him and pushed him through a gap in the vegetation beside the path.
Seemingly not a word was spoken afterwards and neither one lost his footing.  Both were equally tall and the short exchange looked a little like the dance of a couple of stick insects.
