Even as late as two days ago Graeme Sturges was talking about getting a quick environmental approval in order to get work underway before the election, and disgraced backbencher Bryan Green has been politicking the road as a solution to the McCain closure announcement. It says a lot about Labor that they first announced this road project nearly 18 months ago, but only after Parliament has risen before the election do they discover that they don’t actually have the legal power to build it.
