Today, Australia Day, I drove my tractor from my farm on the Channel Highway just south of the Antarctic Division to a friend’s block, about a kilometre south, to do some baling.

I made two round trips, travelling at between 25 and 35 k.p.h.  At three places in the two kilometre round trip, I was able to pull off the highway to let traffic pass, and did so.

On both of the return journeys I was overtaken on double white lines. Five idiot drivers in total - four cars and one motor bike.  Three of those vehicles passed when their sight distance was probably less than 100 metres.

What can I say?  Temporary Australians?
