Down the track Gunns needs to either solve the pulp problem in Tasmania and begin building or abandon it and concentrate on what is now an enormous timber management and ownership business. Fascinatingly another group has approval to build a pulp mill near Portland which will have far less problems than Launceston. Now Gunns has Great Southern timber in the Portland region they can at least consider Portland should the Tasmanian proposal fall over. Read more HERE
