It is actually only one decade since the Liberals last endorsed any Upper House candidates and I pointed this out in a previous response to a Neales article here: http://tasmaniantimes.com/index.php?/weblog/comments/no-portent/
Nevertheless an intriguing move and it remains to be seen what the Liberals are up to. Is it just a profile-raiser to shore up Goodwin’s Franklin campaign, or, on the other hand, will Goodwin actually try to win? If she won it would give the Liberals a massive boost ahead of the 2010 election but at the same time the party might then struggle to build profile for its #2 in Franklin.
There has been some speculation that Labor might simply let the seat go but surely they can’t do that now.
