Think away, Jamie, think away. Another party with big business backing (mostly foreign-owned agribusiness and mining); yeah, we need it like we need a strong dose of atrazine washed down with pulp mill effluent.
The best argument for having Tasmanian National Party poiticians would be that they could facilitate the selling of our opium poppy crop to the Taliban. Of course they’d have to oversee the bribing of the mad mullahs with a few hundred million dollars of the Tassie farmers’ money first.
Are you suggesting this because the Nationals have been almost completely wiped out in Victoria and are disappearing rapidly in NSW? Bring Joh back to Sheffield! He’s about as much use to the world now as he was at his prime.

Just a quick reminder for the Dick Adams cheer squad that Dick started his association with the ALP as head of the Meatworkers Union (Tas Division).
As I have stated a few times on TT, he is the only Tasmanian Meatworker who still has a job. My only memory of Dick in Parliament was when he complained of the the Parliamentary food standards in the Parliamentary Dining Room. Such a member!
PS Dave, as my mum just told me, “I love the bearded lady cos’ her whiskers tickle so.”

Dick Adams! Don’t get me started on this tool. If the dumb Libs ever got their act together and could find someone willing to stand up for Liberal principles he’d been gone in the swallow of a chocolate eclair…

Bloody Gray !
just like that other wanker ! Paul Keating , whose main claim to fame was his statement “the best thing about Australia is the view from the plane porthole en route to Paris”
These past bully boys cant help there slimy maneuvering in the background of politics in the hope of further feathering there nests with absolutely no regard for the citizens who first put them in their “supposed” positions of trust! “corporate Vandals of Democracy” are what they are !

The National Party in Tasmania? Hmmm… Interesting. We do know that with a Nationals voice in Tasmania they will fight issues like the pulp mill and not try and rip off our farmers. They are still a party that has great pride in country areas and still stands up for those farmers.

Right at this present time Steve, in the absence of an honest political alternative, e.g Liblabs ! the electorate may well have gone for a new face on the block!
Pity the Nat’s haven’t grabbed the ball and taken advantage ! this being primarily, a rural state and all.

If you’d like an ‘alternative conservative’ party in Tasmania, then give us your name. If we get names, then we can open a branch in Tasmania and field candidates. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Jeeze, Steve and Don, the Nats sold out to non-Australian interests years ago. Federally they support the pulp mill and the MIS scheme that favours plantations at the expense of rural communities. Let’s never forget Mark Vaile’s role in the Wheat Board giving huge financial aid to our enemy. The sooner they wither away in the drought the better.

So Justa are you saying those issues from a party with no presence in Tasmania, should listen to Tasmanians about Tasmanian Issues? The party still has a strong base from rural Australia, which still receives stong support from the party.
The Pulp Mill happening has been a total mess. You and many others are complaining about it. If it is that much of an issue for you and many others, demand a referedum for it.
Are you also trying to state that those issues outweigh everything that the Liberals and Labor party has done?
The Nationals will have a fresh face, a new look and a new vibe in Tasmania. This party should it be started will attempt to look after everyone, and not just small sections of people and policies.
I’d like to see them reignited. They will be good for our state.

Last I checked, the National Party was part of the coalition governing Australia, and stuffing it up.
WorkChoices, climate change denial, crap anti-sedition laws; that’s just a few reasons not to want them.
They should be consigned to the scrap-heap of history.

The National Party as it is, would not receive a say in Government if they did not have involvement in the coalition. By the party making up numbers their party has a voice. The party uses their voice on a lot of valid issues.

Steve, I’ve been aware of the National Party’s stance on a whole range of issues for the past 50 years (including when, as the Country Party, they stood candidates in Tasmania before). Are you trying to tell me that they’ve suddenly changed?
They are, as they always have been since they stopped supporting small farmers, a relatively minor obstruction on the path to genuine progress.

The National Party - are you serious. This is the outfit once ruled by a man who stole pennies from the eyes of dead people. The Nats are about as relevant as Paris Hilton and just as thick. Though I guess Steve Kons might be tempted to go back to them.
Posted by The Oracle on 17/10/07 at 07:33 PM
Yes I am serious. I’d love to see them return. It does not matter who once ruled the party. We currently have a Labor party that is being run by union officials. They won’t wait until your dead to steal from you.
An alternate choice is what we need. The Nationals are that alternate, and we need them to return.
