Two things came to mind .....(1) the Monty Python dead parrot skit - “the parrot isn’t dead, it’s just being quiet” and (2) Tasmania’s own threatened parrot, the Orange-bellied parrot that , as a species, is fast approaching extinction as released captive-bred OBPs end up as expensive feral-cat food!
Neither dead parrots nor non-existent parrots squark…because there’s nothing there!
That seems to be Tasmania in 2007!

The orange bellied parrot may be threatened species, but the yellow bellied type are abundent and well protected.

Yellow-bellied ‘parrots’ blackpete or yellow-bellied ‘black snakes’, blackpete?
I don’t know any yella-bellied parrots!
Hope you aren’t related to a Black Rat who was also called Pete. Many, many people know him too and the strange thing was that ol’ black rat keeps getting a feed!
