No one disputes the fact that research into GM trees is taking place in the world. No one who has done any reading would dispute the fact that toxicity to predators and competing plants is a prime objective of such research. No one can dispute the fact that the UTAS Forestry CRC is involved in such research, as their researchers have admitted as much. The one remaining dot to connect concerns whether the Tasmanian Forestry industry/government is sufficiently unscrupulous, arrogant, and stupid to introduce something as potentially disastrous as a GM plantation tree without an appropriately transparent and rigorous approval process.
