Södra has been invited to investigate a pulp mill project in Australia. The Australian company currently running the project, Gunns, has announced that Södra is one of several players involved in the discussions. “We need to see what role we could play in this project and what contribution we could make. At the moment it’s too early to say,” says Södra President and CEO Leif Brodén.

Tasmania’s Upper House has approved controversial legislation giving Gunns more time to begin work on its Tamar Valley pulp mill. The Pulp Mill Clarification Bill gives the timber company until August 2011 to begin substantial construction work on the mill. The Government gagged debate on the bill in the Lower House last week.
