Clyde Barker has stated that he is prepared to attack Michael Aird, woofing that he also has been innacurate in the past.

Roll out the smear boys. We,ve are as desperate as hell! Bloody hilarious if it were not so tragic. On the one hands you have the AG, the Kon-man ponificating “aaw we arent a poll driven government, this pulp mill will be independently assessed”!Argh, i nearly pissed myself laughing. And then a rather shaky Michael Aird fronts the media with all the bravado he could he muster contradicting himself and looking oh sooo independent.
Predictably Aird came out yesterday and attacked the “credibility” and “methodology” of the poll conducted by Market research company Taspoll. This poll showed that a majority of people from the NE of Tas oppose a poop mill in th Tamar Valley
I clearly heard Mr. Aird on radio and on televsion say about this independantly conducted poll and i quote “the only discussion is about its methodology and its credibility”.
and then in the same interview go on to say that he hadnt even looked at the poll’s “methodology”?
So what is it to be? Is Mr Aird confused or he is just trying to confuse the public? Or is he just pissed off because the result wasnt what his government wanted? Fairdinkum these blokes are unreal. I think we know the answer to that.
If I was Mr Aird I would be sacking the joker who advised me on what to say to the media yesterday because it made him look pretty desperate and pretty biased.

“My personal opinion is that there is a majority of people supporting the pulp mill,” said Michael Aird.
Hmm, which majority Michael, is that the majority of the people you know in your circle?
If politicans run this place on their personal opinion, so much for democracy, so much for community consultation, so much for consituent concerns, so much for asking the big questions.
How can you be so blind Michael.
How can you support an assessment by a Swedish engineering company over the thoughts, concerns and wishes of the Tasmanian people, dozens of independent experts and billion dollar industries?
Could you ever consider that the Mill might be in the wrong place?
Could you ever consider that hundreds of businesses around the Tamar are petrified of this mill?
Could you ever consider that based on their past experience (Valdivia, Mekong) that Sweco Pic could get it wrong?
Could you ever consider the future of the island state as a whole entity and the effect the plantations and cheap wood supply of our native forests will have on the whole ecosystem?
Have you ever considered that tourism will be effected by a mill that stinks?
Have you EVER considered anything about this mill, or do you just go with the flow of those around you?
Wake up mate. Life’s not all about kitchen appliances and the latest cookbook.

This is the man who said last September that it was inevitable that a Direct Factory Outlet would be built in Tasmania, even if people did not like it.
Same song, different verse, for the Pulp Mill.
Michael Aird… Spokesman for the ULP (Undemocratic Labor Party)

When this all started, I distinctly remember the government and others claiming that more than 90% of Tasmanians supported the mill.
Now, after subsidised buses, daily propaganda from Gunns, task forces and who knows how much effort spent to persuade Tasmanians of the desirability of a pulp mill, the results show that the original 95% has dropped to 35%!
Quite an achievement and well in line with community expectations of government performance.

As Snowy suggests Michael Aird’s ULP party are maximum performers, always in touch with the wishes of the general public.
Imagine how happy they’d be with a binding Citizins Initiated Referenda.

Polticians who live in a fog of their own hubris and arrogance find any check from ordinary people just TOO TOO MUCH TO TAKE. It just can’t be true because the psychophant people that stroke them and give them lollies don’t tell them these NASTY DISTASTEFUL bed-time stories when they get tucked into bed each nite. Only ‘Happy ever after’ myths ...please!
It will have to get a lot worse before these MEN wake up!
They just don’t get it!

Just heard there is a new poll out. Apparently only 90% of Tasmanians think the State Treasurer is a complete wally. The other 10% said that they were the “Tasmanian Government Official Silent Majority”.

Well what can you expect from an ex jeans salesman? Obviously if the figures don’t match the required side, sorry size, chuck ‘em out!

Michael, if my memory serves me correctly, you ran the Just Jeans shop in Lonnie, maybe 25 years ago. Would you have treated your customers then with the same contempt in which you now apparently hold the Tasmanian public? Or do you have a different audience in mind? Do you really sit on the same side of the fence as Robin Gray and David McQuestin, Michael? Strange bedfellows indeed, for a socialist. (Sorry about all the mixed metaphors…there must be something rotten in the state of Tasmania…can’t think clearly anymore…)
