THE arrival of four puppies to be trained as scent-tracking dogs has boosted Tasmania’s fox eradication efforts. Primary Industries and Water Minister David Llewellyn said yesterday the dogs were selected following an extensive study to determine the best fox tracking breeds. Two German shorthaired pointers and two German wirehaired pointers were chosen to join the eradication crew. The dogs were imported from Germany and Romania, costing between $800 and $1200.
