Alderman Elise Archer (who is also a Liberal candidate in Denison for the March 2010 State Election) resigned today from the Salamanca Arts Centre Board, effective immediately.

The only comment Ald Elise Archer wished to make is that she had fundamental concerns with a number of Board related matters and therefore, today tendered her resignation to the Chairman of the Board.

Ald Elise Archer was nominated to be on the SAC Board by Hobart City Council as the SAC Constitution allows the HCC, the Arts Minister and the Minister for Crown Lands to nominate persons for a position on the Board.  However, the Board’s roles and functions are totally independent of the Hobart City Council (and the State Government for that matter).  Ald Archer’s position on the Board was not as a HCC representative role but simply as a nominee member.
