Danielle Wood discusses Blue Skies Helen Hodgman’s “nasty” 1976 novel set in Tasmania, 2pm Fullers Bookshop, Sunday 13 March

Award winning Tasmanian author, Danielle Wood will be in conversation with David Winter about Helen Hodgman’s classic Australian novel, Blue Skies at 2pm at Fullers Bookshop tomorrow, Sunday 13th March.

Set in Hobart in the late 1960s, Blue Skies follows the story of a nameless young suburban mother as she spirals into a (partly) self inflicted break down.

The book preceded the boom in Australian novels that flourished from the late 1970s and the writing is still fresh today.

Melbourne based Text Publishing have chosen to republish two of Helen Hodgman’s novels and editor David Winter, will explain what it is about the novels that made him decide to bring them back to print.

Winter is also associate editor of Griffith Review and former deputy editor at The Monthly magazine

All are welcome to attend this free event and there will be both photo and interview opportunities.
