The Tasmanian Liberals would like to thank the retiring Treasury Secretary, Don Challen, for his outstanding contribution to public policy and economic and financial management in Tasmania during his long and successful career.
Mr Challen was first appointed Treasury Secretary by the Liberal Groom Government in 1993 and has served with distinction ever since.
Given Treasurer Aird’s horrendous policy failures – including attempting to impose an ambulance tax, trying to sell TOTE Tasmania during a global recession, the land tax fiasco and the water and sewerage debacle – I can understand why Mr Challen would want to retire.
