We are delighted to invite you to attend our first exhibition in Launceston, of contemporary Tasmanian painters from Despard Gallery Hobart

Sawtooth Gallery is an exciting addition to the contemporary Tasmanian art scene. We hope you enjoy the collection of five-selected Despard Gallery artists work.

Jo Chew - uses metaphoric objects including three legged dogs, stage constructs, buildings and three-dimensional collages that come together within her vibrant canvases - dynamic imagery and composition.

Wayne Brookes – Raised in Launceston, Brookes is back to town like the prodigal son he is, the ultimate in contemporary high baroque interiors abound, the new paintings resonate with gold and lush fabrics – a must see.
David Nash - a highly respected artist with a hint of New York modern - abstract figures and powerful landscape compositions of form and colour. David was the first contemporary Tasmanian artist to have a solo show at the QVMAG in 1993.
Geoff Dyer – arguably Tasmania’s best known artist, Dyer is primarily an expressionist landscape painter whose passion and energy is evident in his oils; winner of the Archibald in 2003, this year his portrait of David Walsh was highly commended.
Susannah Hart – originally from Ulverstone this dynamic young figurative painter uses her fellow artists and friends for inspiration; she captures the ‘after party’ guests in particular at their best…  her first solo with Despard Gallery will be early 2012.
