11. CRISPY BACON GOES THE LEGAL HEAVY ON TASMANIANTIMES.COM Check out the first two stories on Lindsay Tuffin's website http://www.tasmaniantimes.com/ Can you believe that the Tassie Government is going the legal heavy on this one man operation just because the former editor of Rupert's Sunday Tasmanian dared to republish a piece in French daily Le Figaro which ripped into Tassie for its voracious tree-lopping. Cop it sweet Crispy. Your cosy deals with Gunns Ltd are out of step with the western world and it is no surprise you are getting a bad press. This is not Saddam's Iraq and critics should not be intimidated. (Crikey.com.au)
... that subversive cyber-rag of yours... requiring government bullying to keep it in line! I dunno ... (Just because we go to war to enforce democracy elsewhere, doesn't warrant presuming that you can behave as if the same democratic principles apply to us!!!!)
stick it up them!!
Well done!
Good on you for standing your ground. As Minight Oil sang, "It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees!" Hang in there.
UNfuckingbelievable. You see this and you realize we live in a potato republic.
well done dealing with the Le Figaro issue the way you are - I commend your courage - long live the tassietimes -
the fact that Ken J is getting stuck into you means that (at least in the hot house of parliamentary media) you are having some impact
lovely stuff. Stick it to em.
On ya'
Nice one mate. I'd like to see Jimbo get the writs thru the French Courts.
Thank you for being among the many voices who will not be silenced by Bjelke Bacon's North Korean style spin machine. The only good thing about the vile oppression and ordinariness of the Bacon age, is the colour, feistiness and imagination that it inadvertently forces the people to display.
I received your (unsolicited) ezine yesterday. Who are your backers? The Trotskyists of the Green Left? The neo-intellectual reactionaries of the Barnsbond? The Tonyists of the new Liberals? Perhaps - dare I mention them - the political opportunists of Country Labor?
Do tell.

Congratualtions on producing a quality news information source that isn’t focused on the usual c—-p as printed in most commercial print/electronic/audio outlets.
This is my first visit to the site, but it certainly won’t be the last.
Again thank you for your time and energy in this valuable production.
Take care of yourself...

Well done. It didn’t take long for Barns to find you! The man must never sleep.
It’s great to have another outlet for comment and opinion in Tasmania and you obviously already have a global following.

I have just taken a tour of your wonderful website and was overcome by a barrage of emotions, including equal parts of admiration (of a job extremely well done), pride (knowing that this fine, thought-provoking instrument is Tasmanian-made) and amusement. I wish you nothing but success and a future bereft of lawsuits.
However, I must make one observation: Paul Keating, one of Australia’s finest PMs and a fantastic example of lateral thinking, brought to light the word “recalcitrant”. In context and coming from the mouth of this political genius it provided us with one of the greatest quotes in political history. Please do not contrive to cheapen or weaken the power of this word by allowing it to be overused.
Judging by your scintillating articles, there is no shortage of wordsmiths at Tasmanian Times. Please remember that imitation is flattery, but constant imitation is nothing but plagiarism and shows a distinct lack of imagination. OK, that’s off my chest, now it’s time to sign off at the same point I started, by offering you heartiest congratulations.

About bloody time. Good to read some real Tasmanian news and opinion, unlike the disgraceful attempts at (other) news web pages etc.....Keep it coming!
Ps re: “anaemic bottom-line” Cascade Green (The Hag)....say it ain’t true!

Good show!

Splendid venture. It certainly fills a gap and appeaars to cover a diversity of views. Hopefully it will go a long way to filling the need for investigative journalism which this state so sadly lacks.
Best wishes,

Great effort whoever you are! Keep up the easy to read large type too! Do we see the birth of our very own 'salon.com'?

Sensaaaaaaaayshional ...the website which harangues but with a heart that pounds so strongly the Hag is in danger of losing it, Alien-like, out through the chest and along the corridors of power, to splat at the feet of the poseur pollies who wouldn't know a voter's plea for mercy if they stepped on it.
