Green wedge ... and WWF Q&A

By NEIL CREMASCO, and ANDREW

With the release of the WWF document “A Blueprint for the Forest Industry and Vegetation Management in Tasmania”, the past couple of weeks has been a torrid one for the conservation movement. What has emerged, however, is a fearlessness to analyse a position adopted by an “on side” group, especially when that position is so warmly praised by the timber industry.

Click onto this website (below) from the Australia Institute, and do a search using the letters WWF, and you'll find a revealing report by respected academic Clive Hamilton called "Taming the Panda".

Hamilton’s article poses serious and pressing questions as to the independence and underlying motivation of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and what many feel is an excessively close relationship with the Howard government.

Is this a case of WWF securing massive funding from the Coalition, and little Johnny securing his cherished green wedge in time for the election?

AND,

To address some of the misconceptions and to answer some of the questions they have been receiving.

If you're interested, you can view it at - http://www.wwf.org.au/Submission/QandA.php

The Blueprint is open for comment until the 27th August. Kind regards,
Andrew
